People really do seem to be inherently stupid. Not any particular people, ALL people (myself included).  We do things that we know can or will harm ourselves or those around us, we even laugh about the fact that we do them.  We see the results of our actions in front of us and do not give a damn.  We see the eventual consequences in those around us who have done these stupid things for longer, and we pity (a joke of a feeling in itself) them, yet we continue knowing that it will be us there.  We 'pity' people, a pathetic word that means nothing, no-one wants pity yet we still find it an appropriate thing to do to people who are somehow less fortunate.

We know full well what we are capable of, what we do to other people and other species. We willfully wreck the environment with our waste and our crass need for 'the best' and we must have it NOW no matter the cost to anyone or anything. We are greedy and manipulative, we lie cheat and steal to get what we want or where we want.

When confronted with the details of our action we hide away whimpering 'oh I don't want to hear that'.  If you can't face the truth about where something came from then you do not have the right to have it. Own up to your sociopathic ability to disregard anyone except yourself.  The ethical vegetarians who eat fish and sweets with beef gelatine in it because 'it's not really cow'.  The environmentalist who eats meat, drives a car. The superiority complex vegans who cannot accept that somewhere down the line an animal will have died for something they eat/own.

The people who irk me the most right now is on more of a personal level, the ones who go on and on about how much of a caring empathetic person they are, how much they care for and would do anything for their friends.  Yet strangely as soon as one of their friends needs something, some kind words, a random conversation and a welcome distraction......all of a sudden that person is nowhere to be found.  When someone needs to be treated like a valid human being, thats always when friends show their faces.

We like to think we are the superior animal on this planet, truth is we are so far from it. We are the scum that sits on the top of a pond and we will keep growing and breeding and devouring everything in our path until everything beneath us has suffocated and died.  I'm tempted to let myself sink to the bottom and fall away with the real superior creatures.
